Over the last several years the Satell Institute has seen outstanding growth. The Institute currently boasts 239 Corporate and Foundation members and 289 Nonprofit Affiliates in three regional chapters — Philadelphia, Central Pennsylvania, and Pittsburgh.

Now, with three dynamic individuals joining the SI team, the organization is poised for even greater growth and impact through Corporate Social Responsibility.

Please join us in welcoming our three new regional vice presidents, each of whom will focus on expanding the Institute’s footprint geographically and spreading our mission of thinking WE, not me.

Becky Flaherty
SI’s new Regional Vice President (West) is Becky Flaherty. Becky is already a familiar face to many people in our Pittsburgh chapter, having served as CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, a Satell Institute Nonprofit Affiliate. Becky (pictured above, right) brings an impressive background in nonprofits and fundraising and serves on several nonprofit boards (including the national and local boards of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation). With a master’s degree in professional leadership from Carlow University, she believes in giving back to the community. At SI, Becky will focus on growth in western Pennsylvania and other markets west of Pittsburgh.

“The [Satell] model really considers that nonprofit CEOs can make a bigger impact by having a more secure budget with known commitments,” Becky says. “With this in place, they can spend their time focused on mission and strategy to have even bigger success in partnership with the corporations and communities they serve. In previous roles I have been able to grow and expand organizations nationally, and I am excited to continue that work through the great mission of the Satell Institute.”

Paul Howard
SI’s new Regional Vice President (North) is Paul Howard, who comes to the organization with a stellar background in education, nonprofits and corporate foundations. For the past five years Paul (pictured above, left), a native of the UK, has been a key executive at the Philadelphia Union, leading the MLS franchise’s efforts in philanthropy and community outreach. Among his accomplishments there are the iAM Project, which provides low-income students from Chester with educational support, mentorship, and work experience, and the Head First program, which puts a spotlight on teen mental health. At SI, Paul will focus on expansion and serving members in Northern New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island.

“I feel like everything I’ve been doing has led me to this moment,” Paul says of joining the Satell Institute. “This is a great opportunity to do good beyond Philadelphia.”

Jake Dawson
Joining SI as Regional Vice President (South) is Jake Dawson, who’ll oversee efforts in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia. Jake (pictured above, center) brings impressive experience, having spent his career working in both the nonprofit world and with large and small corporations. Jake spent the early part of his career as the Executive Director of the Indian Valley Boys and Girls Club; for the last nine years he’s been Director of Business Development with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, bringing together business and civic leaders to create a stronger community.

“I’m leaving one of the coolest jobs in the world for another one of the coolest jobs in the world,” Jake says of becoming part of the Satell Institute.

The addition of these three exceptional individuals is crucial to SI’s plan for expansion. We’re excited to welcome them and look forward to their many contributions.
