Comcast has joined the Satell Institute Collective Force by making a four-year pledge to City Year. City Year is a national nonprofit that helps close gaps in high-need schools by supporting students’ academic, social and emotional development. Through City Year’s work, students from these high-need schools are improving their academic performance and becoming leaders of the future.
Comcast provides many opportunities to City Year corps members, including professional workshops and the annual City Year Summer Academy, which trains incoming City Year staff members as they prepare for their year of service. Comcast also sponsors City Year’s annual National Leadership Summit, bringing leaders from the education, business, philanthropic and government sectors to address opportunities to help City Year students. In the Philadelphia area, City Year joins forces with Comcast for the annual Comcast Cares Day. Recently, nearly 250 volunteers transformed the hallways of a Philadelphia elementary school, building the students a fun and vibrant atmosphere where they will be excited to learn.
