Meet the Speakers for SI’s First National Conference on CSR

The event — to be attended by business leaders from numerous cities — also celebrates 10 years of the Satell Institute’s amazing impact.

This year is an important one for America, as the nation marks its 250th birthday. It’s also an important and festive one for the Satell Institute, as the organization celebrates the 10th anniversary of its founding.

To commemorate those extraordinary milestones — and highlight the remarkable growth of the Satell Institute and Corporate Social Responsibility in the last decade — in May SI is hosting its first National Conference on CSR.

The two-day, invitation-only Semiquincentennial event — to be held at the National Constitution Center on Independence Mall in Philadelphia — will bring together CEOs and nonprofit leaders from multiple cities for conversations about how CSR makes both communities and companies stronger.

Private CEO Conference

The event will have two parts. On Tuesday, May 12th, more than 500 member CEOs and invited guests from SI’s chapters in New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and beyond will gather for the national Private CEO Conference.

We’re thrilled to announce that our keynote speaker will be Paige Alexander, CEO of the world-renowned Carter Center, which was founded by the late Nobel Prize-winning President Jimmy Carter. Alexander will be interviewed by conference co-chairs Tim McDermott of the Philadelphia Union and A.J. Jordan of Vanguard.

In addition to that inspiring keynote presentation, the conference will include SI’s hallmark peer idea-sharing roundtables, this time with an innovation suggested by our outstanding conference committee: attendees will have the opportunity to self-select their own tables.

Special thanks to our Stars and Stripes Sponsors — The Dena and Morey Goldberg Family Fund, WSFS Bank, Pincus Family FoundationConnelly Foundation and Anonymous. And our deep gratitude to our Patriot Partner Sponsors — Royer Cooper Cohen and Braunfeld, OceanFirst Bank, CCS Fundraising, and Friends of Ed Satell for His 90th Birthday.

Nonprofit Summit

SI’ Nonprofit Summit will take place on Monday, May 11th. More than 400 nonprofit CEOs, corporate executives, civic leaders and change agents will convene for a powerful morning of inspiration, strategy and peer-to-peer learning. This invitation-only leadership conference will explore the vital need for partnerships among the nation’s most trusted organizations — nonprofits and companies.

Attendees will hear from Michael Thatcher, CEO of the nation’s most trusted nonprofit evaluator, Charity Navigator. Also sharing their stories will be two prominent funding members — David Griffith, Chair of The Modern Group (who has also served as a nonprofit CEO) and Danielle Y. Scott, CEO of the Pincus Family Foundation.

In addition, David Finegold, one of Satell’s founding members in Pittsburgh, will share a unique opportunity through the Golub Capital Nonprofit Board Fellows Network, working with top business schools.

We’re also thrilled to announce that the 76ers Youth Foundation are generously offering a challenge grant to pay for a post-Summit lunch, which was enthusiastically suggested by the Summit Committee. The Sixers will match any contributions made by other SI members. We’re deeply appreciative of their leadership!

Kickoff Event

SI’s birthday and  Semiquincentennial celebration will actually begin with a kickoff event on March 18th. This is a unique evening of collegiality and networking for SI’s funding members and board.

The event is a gift from Member Michele Leff, founder and CEO of 12th Street Caterers. The Academy of Natural Sciences, an SI Nonprofit Affiliate Member, is graciously hosting this relaxed evening. Thank you to both for your generosity!
