Expanded Focus on CSR in Response to Pandemic

Between making a major acquisition, taking over a Philadelphia-area wastewater utility and a name change, Essential Utilities has had a lot on its plate in 2020. But its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives as a Member of the Satell Institute continue to altruistically support the community in substantial ways.

Regional Leader Uses the Satell Institute Corporate Social Responsibility Network to Align Local Involvement with National Commitment

BB&T Bank Regional President Travis Rhodes, a Southerner by birth who moved from North Carolina to Greater Philadelphia in 2018, hasn’t let the moss grow under his feet since taking on his new role. As he was completing the integration of the former Susquehanna Bank and National Penn Bank, which BB&T had bought prior to his arrival, he also carved out time to get to know the Pennsylvania/Delaware Valley/Lehigh Valley Region he oversees as Regional President. This included linking with other business and nonprofit leaders by becoming an active member of The Satell Institute.

Communicating Why CSR is Every Leader’s Business

Strong values and thinking long term help drive success. This is a core tenet of the Satell Institute. SI stands for community building — business and nonprofits partnering to serve the greater good. Business provides the quantity of life—wealth and job creation. Nonprofits—”Heroes” provide the quality of life solutions to human issues and human development. Community trust is earned by demonstrating these strong values.
